Friday, 17 May 2013: Canada is celebrating the May long Weekend. Many outdoor events are taking place, such as live music and sport events. Kaslo is hosting its Kaslo May Days, which is a great event to visit and the venue is along the beautiful Kootenay Lake shore. Sunshine Village/Banff is open for the last weekend for winter operations; The event is celebrated with a big Slush Cup and Live Music.
Friday, 10 May 2013: Jasper and Lake Louise have closed the winter season last weekend; Banff-Sunshine Village is still open until May 20th. Great Spring series concert is hosted on the weekends at Sunshine Village. The Columbia Valley/Invermere is hosting its Wings Over The Rockies -Bird Festival. The weather is beautiful and warm in the Canadian Rockies, perfect for hiking and biking. Check out our new page: Canadian Rockies Hikebike Report, for great local hiking and biking trails. Thursday, 2 May 2013: Jasper and Lake Louise are celebrating their closing weekend with a Beach Party and live Music in Jasper and Lake Louise is having a busy weekend with the Snowboard event Ruckus in the Rockies and the Mountain Throwback Funk Jam with DJ's for the weekend. Sunshine Village in Banff is hosting the Spring Series of Music on the Mountain with live music from New Moon. Lots of Snow, Music and Sunshine, have fun out there.
Wednesday, 24 April 2013: Jasper, Banff and Lake Lousie have received fresh powder in the last few days. Check out our powder report for more news on snow and weather.
Marmot Basin in Jasper is hosting a free concert with the band Down with Webster, on Saturday. Sunshine Village is hosting its Music on the Mountain Series on the weekend and Lake Louise is offering live music with Hurricane Felix and the Southern Twisters. Have fun out there in the Canadian Rockies.
Tuesday, 16 April 2013: Fernie and Revelstoke have closed their winter season with lots of fresh powder, last weekend.

Events for the weekend: Jasper is hosting the Bud Light Mountain Refresh Tour, with Rail Jam and Live Music. Sunshine Village-Banff is starting its Spring Series of Music on the Mountain and Lake Louise is hosting the Mountain Takeover with live Radio Stations and DJ's. Have fun with these great events in the Canadian Rockies.
Wednesday, 10 April 2013: Many Spring Events are on this weekend: Revelstoke is hosting the Stoke to Spoke - Snow triathlon, with ski or snowboard, winter biking and navigating through an obstacle course.
Fernie is hosting the Powder-Pedal-Paddle Triathlon and a slope soaker pond contest, with a free Rock Concert from the Canadian Band: Chilliwack. Lake Louise is hosting an AMP Radio Day with Live DJ'S.
Jasper is hosting an Aloha Cup with live music and a ski/snowboard race and Sunshine Village is starting its Spring Concert Series on April 20th, featuring live bands for every weekend until May 20th. Wednesday, 3 April 2013: Great Spring Skiing ahead here in the next few days. All skiresorts offer great events this weekend: Lake Louise is hosting the Mountain Takeover event, Fernie is hosting the Enemy Lines event, Revelstoke is hosting the IFSA Freeski Final event, Kimberley, Whitewater and Kicking Horse offer beach partys for their season closing events. Saturday, 30 March 2013: Beautiful Spring Conditions are here for the Easter Weekend in the Canadian Rockies and the Canadian Kootenays. The currently warm temperatures with lots of Sunshine will continue until mid next week. Happy Easter!

Thursday, 21 March 2013: Revelstoke and Nelson are over the 10 metres of Snowfall for this ski season and Fernie is getting closer. It is snowing here in the Canadian Rockies and Canadian Kootenays since a few days making it a real powder season this spring. A fun powder weekend with a great big mountain freeride event at Kicking Horse Mountain is on this weekend:
Golden, Kicking Horse Mountain - Wrangle the Chute: March 22-24, 2013.
A great Freeride event to watch or take part, as participants are challenged to master a most technical ski terrain and a bronco ride at the finish line.
Powder and Fun also in Lake Louise where the Volcom Rail Jam is taking place on Saturday.

To promote awareness of the need for unlit night skies, the entire month of October is Dark Sky Month in Jasper. There will be sky-themed activities and events all month long. But the highlight event will be the October 12-14 Jasper Dark Sky Festival. This family friendly event will feature guest presenters, children’s activities and star gazing adventures.

Two-day multi-discipline Stage Race, including XC & DH Mountain biking and trail running. Challenge yourself to complete one stage or compete for the Monster Challenge or Cody Quest Challenge to be the overall greatest sufferer! There will also be a kids event taking place on the Kaslo River Trail.
Friday, 21 September 2012: KANANASKIS CANADIAN ROCKIES HELI RUN, Sept.22,2012. This is the first race of its kind in the world, with an innovative and unique trail running experience located in the Canadian Rockies. This is a two person team event. Teammates will run in a relay format from the Heliport to a remote alpine lake and back again, but there's a twist. The twist is: the first runner runs in from the heliport to the lake and flies out by helicopter, the second choppers in to the lake and runs out to the heliport. A spectacular six minute helicopter ride is part of this trail running adventure. Just outside of Banff National Park, located in the beautiful Canadian Rockies, the Cline River Heliport is situated on the banks of Abraham Lake. From here, the run is approximately 19 km for each runner. The net elevation change is 780 m. You and your teammate make the decision of who will run the uphill leg; the stronger runner may choose this portion, and who will run down.
Wednesday, 12 September 2012: The Canadian Rockies-Columbia Valley Oldtimer Car Show is taking place this weekend in the beautiful Nature of Radium Hot Springs. Enjoy this car show with amazing views of the Canadian Purcell Mountain Range and it's natural Hot Springs.
Friday, 7 September 2012: One of the most picturesque triathlon event in the world. Swim in the pristine waters of Two Jack Lake, bike around Minnewanka Lake Loop Road and then into the town of Banff finishing the run on Banff Avenue and Central Park. Wednesday, 4 April 2012: Kootenays Ski resorts are offering cool events for their end of winter season: Check out the one in Revelstoke: The Stoke to Spoke is a triathlon on snow, involving skiing or snowboarding, biking, and navigating an obstacle course to the finish line and then chugging a beverage. Compete as an individual or in teams of three. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the solo and team categories. Come and cheer on the competitors from the Mid-Mountain Lodge or at the finish line located in the Village Plaza at the base of the Revelation Gondola.Sounds like FUN.

Wednesday, 21 March 2012: The Jumbo Glacier Skiresort received their Go Ahead yesterday from the province of BC. The new ski resort will provide the much needed all year round skiing and training facilities. With almost fresh powder everzday in the winterseason this area will be a must ski once in operation. A Kicking Horse Original Event – join us for the ultimate freeride showdown as athletes challenge technical mountain terrain combined with a bronco ride on E.J. Hector at the finish line. DJ Wakcutt will be providing the tunes all day.

Tuesday March 6th, 2012: Heavy Snowfall in the Albertan Rockies last night has caused avalanche danger in the Kootenay and Banff National parks . The parks are currently closed until this evening. It is still snowing in the Canadian Rockies. Sunshine and fresh powder turns should be available from tomorrow on.
Monday March 5th, 2012: Powder alert in the Canadian mountains: It is snowing in the Canadian mountains. Ski resorts from BC and AB report up to 60 cm new snow in the last few hours. March is usually the month when it snows the most in the mountains here in the Canadian alpine adventure region.
